This Saturday, July 2nd, is the grand opening of the newly built Volunteer Park Amphitheater! A free, all ages event celebration from 2:00 – 7:00 pm.

The Schedule:

• 2:00pm: family friendly music & activities begin
• 4:00pm: keynote speakers
• 5:00pm: evening music portion begins

Thursdays between July 2nd to August 18th, there are performances between 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Bring a picnic, your blanket, your friends and family, and your dogs!

This amphitheater is the first new building for this historic park in 50 years and it is the only public outdoor stage in the region capable of supporting professional dance with its custom-designed resilient stage floor. The former amphitheater, an aging concrete-and-brick stage, needed major upgrades.

The new Amphitheater includes full ADA accessibility, a roof, all-gender bathrooms, storage space, an actors’ dressing room, and a resilient stage floor for performance. When not used for performances, the stage’s back wall will swing back, creating an inviting, covered pavilion.
