“Do you remember the 90’s?” Fred Armisen asks Carrie Brownstein on an episode of “Portlandia,” a hit show that premiered on the Independent Film Channel (IFC) in January. “People were talking about getting piercings and getting tribal tattoos.  People were singing about saving the planet, forming bands.  Well, there’s a place where that idea still exists as a reality.”

The show’s outlandish — yet, humorously accurate — depiction of life in the 90’s time warp earned a cult following in the Northwest. On Wednesday, Dec. 28, Armisen (a 9-year cast member on “Saturday Night Live”) and Brownstein (singer/guitarist for Wild Flag and Sleater-Kinney) will present “Portlandia: The Tour” at Showbox at the Market.

The tour is scheduled to visit six cities. Audiences can expect live tunes, exclusive sneak-peeks at the show’s upcoming second season and stories about how “Portlandia” came to be from the actors, creators, writers and other key players. This hilarious, wonderfully bizarre look at the Rose City and its sometimes eccentric inhabitants will leave most Seattleites smiling, if not bowled over in laughter.

Tickets ($20 in advance; $30 at the door) are available online, or by calling (888) 929-7849; please book your tickets as soon as possible, as the show is expected to sell out soon. Tune in at 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6 for the second season premiere of “Portlandia,” only on IFC.
