Music Madness: Bassnectar

Give your mother the DubStep experience this weekend.

Check Em’ Out: Bassnectar is the techno- sonic brain child of Lorin Ashton, and if you haven’t had the opportunity to listen to the vibrations he continues to produce as a musical project he’s shared from one end of the globe to the next, you might want to take your mother to WaMu Theatre this weekend.

His music is a full body and mind experience, engulfing all of the senses with a class of music all his own; a combination of djing, remixing, and collaborative writing, a  familiar and strange experience that toys with the mind of dubstep fans galore. Ashton has said that his music is a “reflection of the opportunity to give back; the motion of my cells bouncing back at the world.” He’s released all of his albums through his own record label Amorphous Music label and has toured with a wall of sound and light show he’s created for the perfectly paired experience. He’s performed at Bonaroo, Lala and Coachella and is making a pit stop in Seattle to test the Northwest. Let Ashton throw you in a timessssstttttrrrrreeeettttccccchhhhhhhh.

Venue: The WaMu Theater is an acoustically treated concert hall that is connected to the Century Link Field Event Center in the Sodo District. The unique design and concept of the theater makes it one of the most flexible indoor performance arenas in the United States, and is one of the first of its kind. The theater was strategically designed to accommodate a range of performances from concerts and tradeshows to comedy and family performances, and the sound quality is notably so good, sometimes artists will comment that fan requests are heard over their own vocals.

When: Saturday, May 12th. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets: From $36 here.
