What’s Hot: Seattle International Beerfest

The mecca of beer events arrives in the Emerald City.

Don’t know the difference between a pale ale and a porter?  Or a stout and a pilsner?  Then study up at the Seattle International Beerfest, which features over 200 world-class beers.  Get your drinking arm ready to lift cold brewskis as you test your vocabulary and learn to pronounce names like Hofbrau, Gouden Carolus, and Zywiec, as well as get comfortable tossing around acronyms like IBU, IPA, and ABV.

Got those pesky post-beer cravings?  Not to worry; there’s plenty of kettle corn, hot dogs, tacos, and BBQ.  After you’re stuffed, sit back and listen to the live music while you play some darts, backgammon, or checkers.

Make sure to check out the special events: on Friday at 5 p.m. there will be a very limited number of Samuel Adams Utopias available–only 100 people will get some, so get there quickly.  There’s also a daily lambic blending and tasting hosted by Bocker Brewery of Belgium; it includes five different samples of Belgian lambic for $7.

When: Friday, July 6th to Sunday, July 8th.  Times vary.

Where: Fisher Pavilion & Lawn at Seattle Center (305 Harrison Street, Seattle)

How much: Your entry fee gets you an official SIB glass and 10 beer tickets. $25 for advance tickets, $30 at the gate Friday and Saturday, $35 at the gate on Sunday.  Tickets can be purchased online.
