Head to Capitol Hill for the hottest Vietnamese watering hole.
Ba Bar, the latest culinary project of Eric and Sophie Banh of Monsoon, serves quality Vietnamese street food. Highlights include freshly baked pastries, the most-talked-about pho in town, and creative cocktails.
And speaking of drinks, Ba Bar just expanded their bar area: more tables and new bar stools bump up the total seating to 41. Their cocktail menu has also grown, due to some assistance from Andrew Friedman of Liberty Bar. The following cocktails are all new and cost $8–$10:
Bloody Lao: House Bloody Mixture, Bacardi Light, and basil.
Carnivale Betida: Cachaca, condensed milk, sugar cane syrup, seasonal fruit, and a cinnamon stick.
Coconut Sour: Coconut rum, lemon, sugar cane syrup, and egg white with lime garnish.
Plum Sangria: Plum wine, red wine, brandy, Peach Schnapps, and seasonal fruit.
Saigon Julep: Apple brandy, basil, and sugar cane syrup.
Rummy Saz: Black Strap Rum, Goslings Rum, Green Chartreuse, Peychaud’s Bitters, Precious Pacific Northwest Coffee Bitters, and sugar cane syrup.
Nguyen Dynasty: Gin, rhubarb syrup, lemon, sparkling wine, and star anise.
Hung Hero: Gold rum, Benedictine, black pepper syrup, lime, and orange bitters.
Violet Daiquiri: Agricole Rhum Blanc, lime, Maraschino, and Crème de Violette.
Imperial City: Hendrick’s Gin, Drambuie, lemon, Crème de Rose, sparkling wine, and cucumber.
These cocktails are designed to work in tandem with the food, but they’ll be just fine on their own. Just grab a seat at the new bar area and find out for yourself.
