The Chef in the Hat delivers a fine dining experience.

In this edition of Food Porn, we feature Rover’s, one of Seattle’s premier dining destinations for over 20 years, located in Madison Park. James Beard Award-winning chef and owner Thierry Rautureau, also known as Chef in the Hat due to his ever-present fedora and has been featured on Bravo TV’s, Top Chef Masters.

Situated in the quaint neighborhood of Madison Park, the atmosphere is welcoming and the service is impeccable. Dining here is more than just a meal — it is an experience. Rover’s offers several tasting menus: a Bistro ($65), Menu Degustation ($99), and Grand Menu Degustation ($145)  featuring Northwest influence on classic French cuisine. All dishes are also offered al la carte.

Chef Thierry uses classic French cooking techniques on seasonal and locally produced ingredients to create innovative dishes. Wine Director, Scot Smith, is extremely knowledgeable about the extensive wine list and can answer any of your wine questions. All tasting menus are offered with an optional wine pairing.

The Scrambled Organic Egg with lime crème fraîche and white sturgeon caviar is to-die-for. The delicately scrambled eggs result in a creamy and soft texture topped with a salty pop of caviar. Served in the egg shell in an egg cup, ordering this signature eggs-on-eggs combination is essential.

Neah Bay Salmon with Manila clams is delicious and allows the fresh fish to shine. The Pan Seared Quail with quinoa, pickled fennel, and citrus sauce is tender and well-balanced. The hearty Roasted Rabbit is served with brown butter, carrot, turnip, and wild mushrom. Rich and tender Wagyu Beef is served with summer squash, eggplant, and rosemary sauce.

Next door to Rover’s is Luc, a French-American café named after Chef Thierry’s father. Luc is a casual neighborhood spot with heartwarming food, fresh cocktails, and a well-selected wine list. Open daily from 4:30pm – 10:00pm, Friday and Saturday until 11:00pm and offering Sunday Brunch from 10am-1:30pm.

Pressed white linens, tables set with roses and candlelights, and an intimate atmosphere, Rover’s is the perfect place for a very special occasion.
