A collaboration with five American craft breweries.

We are thrilled to introduce a new Seattleite column that is dedicated to providing information about the latest and greatest craft brews, beer & spirits tasting events, interviews and q&a with brewmasters, and all the adult beverage-related Seattle news we can get our hands on. “Brew Barons” will be co-authored by Kelsey Uy and Jered Perez.

This past June, Jameson announced the Jameson Drinking Buddies Program, highlighting distinct craft beer collaborations with American breweries. Among the five breweries picked from across the United States for exemplifying devotion to the spirit of their neighborhoods and share Jameson’s passion for craft and quality is Hilliard’s Beer in Ballard.

 

 

 

 

Jameson invited each of these breweries to the distillery in Ireland and then sent them home with Jameson Whiskey barrels to create a limited edition beer inspired by their experience in Ireland as well as their own unique neighborhood.

HILLIARD’S BEER CREATION:“Jameson Whiskey Barrel Sour” is a chestnut color with a citrus and spiced wood aroma and a hint of sweetness.

WHAT IT TASTES LIKE: The first glass tastes like a husky guy walking into a bar, on a Sunday afternoon after a nice walk around Greenlake or up some of Seattle’s notorious hills with the heat from outside crawling in after him along with his… “aroma”. You happen to be graced with his warm and fragrant body next to you at the bar and are wondering how fast you can kill your drink to get out of there. Where did the bartender run off to? The bartender appears, immediately recognizing the man sitting next to you and a spirited and jovial conversation ensues. They even begin to include you in the conversation and the hot afternoon turns into a cool evening with a pleasant breeze rolling in through the door to the patio as you converse with your new friends and jest the night away!

From visiting the Jameson distillery in Ireland, to becoming buddies with the whiskey distillers, a video series was filmed to shed light on each brewer’s Drinking Buddies experience. Following the visit to the distillery, Hilliard Beer’s brewers returned home to Seattle with Jameson barrels where the episode chronicles the beer they ultimately brewed, “Jameson Whiskey Barrel Sour”.
