Brew Barons: Scratch Distillery

Is it Beer? Is it Vodka? It’s Breakaway!!!

Alright, so try and track with us here. American Brewing Company makes this rockin’ India Pale Ale called Breakaway. Next, their neighbors across the street at Scratch Distillery decide they want to distill American Brewing Company’s IPA into a spirit. Finally, Scratch takes this bright spirit with shy hoppiness hiding behind a maze of the beer mash’s grain bill until it absorbs the character of the Woodinville Whiskey barrels.

That’s right. Scratch turns an IPA into vodka wearing whiskey clothing and the result (The Breakaway Barrel Finished Spirit) is incredible.

Visit Scratch Distillery in Edmonds ASAP because you have to taste it to believe it. Scratch currently specializes in gin and vodka, but are toying with the idea of aged spirits like single malts and bourbons. Stay tuned for more from these creative and talented folks.
