Cirque du Soleil Luzia Opening Day Review: A Magical Mexican Dreamscape

Luzia opened in Seattle on Thursday, March 30th at Marymoor Park for a limited engagement through May 21st. Luzia explores various themes linked to the culture, history and mythology of Mexico, some of which may not seem connected at first glance. The show uses speed, monumentality, rain in all its manifestations, surreal animal life, and a poetic vision of reality in this contemporary mosaic. It awakens and engages your senses and transports you to a place suspended between dreams and reality.

Each time we watch a Cirque du Soleil show, we are surprised and impressed with the level of passion and dedication each performer has dedicated to perfecting their craft. The whole production is from costumes to lighting and music is carefully planned, with a keen attention to detail. For this show, the creative team brought the element of water into a magnificent set design and it’s breathtaking.

There was a lot of buzz on opening day and this past weekend and we imagine the show will only get better and better as they continuously make little changes and improvements to make it even more fantastic. For tickets and more information, visit www.cirquedusoleil.com/luzia.
