Culture Dose: Support Our National Parks

Celebrating our sacred land with picturesque selfies + beautiful wall art.

At a time when the future of our country’s national parks feels threatened, we’ve discovered two wonderful ways to honor their beauty and support those trying to save them.

  1. Calling all shutterbugs! As part of the #FindYourPark/ EncuentraTuParque movement, the National Park Foundation (official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service) recently launched the #PicYourParkContest on Instagram. The competition puts these incredible parks in the spotlight and invites visitors – both amateur and experienced – to submit photos of themselves in national parks for the chance to win a VIP trip for two to one of the country’s unforgettable gems.

Participants gather points by tagging #PicYourParkContest in their Instagram posts; as they visit more destinations, they receive more points (and even gain extra merit for posting photos of themselves at less-visited parks). The contest runs through September 28th.

  2. Interested in jazzing up your walls at home and donating to a good cause in the process? Check out stunning National Park Posters (pictured above and below) that feature the WPA-style artwork of photographer/graphic artist Rob Decker. The Colorado-based talent, who studied under Ansel Adams in Yosemite when he was just 19, is now on a journey to create iconic images of all 60 National Parks. He aims to raise awareness for the continued protection and operation of the parks and also to help establish the next generation of National Park supporters. Decker donates 10% of annual profits to the organizations that support America’s National Parks. (National Park Posters are $35 each.)

Happy exploring; if you ask us, it’s high time to #getoutside!
