I was looking at my calendar the other day and I realized I haven’t experienced the burn of Pure Barre for almost six months. Six months! The dismay! Blame it on being a first-time working nursing mom, I guess, since doesn’t seem to be a shortage of Pure Barre locations across western Washington, that’s for sure.

And now, my everyone’s favorite ballet-based total body workout is creeping even further westward with dynamic duo Sami and Brandon Sweeney’s fifth location in four years coming to Green Lake–the Sweeney’s own ‘hood.

Okay, so it’s still only January but that’s what this month of the new year is for, right? Ringing in our resolutions — for many of us that means pushing ourselves to the edge of fitness. Whether we’re charging up Rattlesnake Ridge, stretching into sun salutations in local studios, or paddling out over the still-frigid PNW waters, we’re living to be outside channeling the strength that comes with movement.

Okay, okay, the official name of this event actually refers to it as a “round-up” but ehh. You say po-tay-to, I say po-tah-to. You say round-up, I say rodeo. I can see it now: a herd of food trucks grazing the Seattle streets when out of nowhere a starving Seattleite attempts to lasso one of them using an over-sized fork and only being thwarted by the latest in the Super Sonics NBA-decision distraction.
