The Grand Canyon is one of the most recognizable National Parks in the United States with its distinguished layered bands of red rock. Formed over millions of years, the Canyon runs 10 miles across and a mile deep. After plenty of research and a successful five-day trip, here are some of my tips and a few pictures (though these don’t do it justice). Honestly, you need to put it on your list—I can’t put into words how magnificent and stunning it is to experience in person.

Some of our favorite places in Vancouver.

There is so much to explore in Vancouver’s many vibrant and diverse neighborhoods, including outdoor activities, walking the city, and delicious places to eat and drink. Here are some of our must-do’s when we visit Vancouver. The US Dollar is still strong, with $1USD = $1.37CAD so it can be an affordable weekend getaway.

Brighten up your spring with this beautiful island’s laid-back draws and dynamo deals.

We already know that the San Juan Islands dazzle in summer months, showing off in shimmering, sun-kissed, soul-soothing ways we cannot sufficiently put into words. But did you know that these islands hold a special charm in winter and spring months, too? Here are just a few reasons we suggest you beat the crowds and switch over to “island time” sooner rather than later.

We’ve always found British Columbia to be an alluring destination: The beautiful province is conveniently close to Seattle and offers an opportunity to use our passports when we’re feeling the itch. Perhaps most importantly, Canada happens to be home to some of the nicest people on the planet. (And right now, for obvious reasons, many of us feel an urge to migrate north more than ever before.)

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we’ve fallen back for daylight savings, Thanksgiving weekend just passed, and we’ve officially entered the holiday season. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve are the standard celebrations, but have you considered visiting our neighbors up north for Chinese New Year? It’s a quick trip—2 hours and 15 minutes hours if there’s no traffic (check border traffic before you head out).

A winter wonderland getaway inspired by nature.

Leavenworth is a great destination year round, with outdoor water-based activities and hiking in the summer and snow and skiing adventures in the winter. There are festivals in the spring and fall and Leavenworth downtown is adorable during the holidays (like a real life gingerbread village). Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort is nestled on the banks of Icicle Creek, just outside Leavenworth. The resort offers a distinct Northwest experience accented by sustainable gourmet cuisine and cozy accommodations.

The closest tropical destination to Seattle.

Located on a 44-acre private island with a mile of sandy Marina Bay beach, Paradise Point Resort & Spa is a gorgeous beach getaway. Located under seven miles from downtown San Diego, there are plenty of amenities, including 5 pools, dining options, and an expansive spa. The setting is island-inspired and tropical, with various beach resort amenities.
