Celebrate fall with authentic German food and entertainment.
Autumn is officially here, so prepare to huddle up indoors with family and friends to enjoy some good brew and brats. The recent wet weather for which Seattle is known will not dampen the 7th annual Oktoberfest Northwest, which is held inside at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center.
Oktoberfest Northwest boasts entertainment and activities for both adults and children. Kids will enjoy watching the Wiener Dog Races and visiting the Family Fest Zone & Kinderhaus. A root beer garden, pumpkin decorating station and other activities will keep the wee ones happy all weekend long!
Home of the Hammerschlagen Tournament of Champions, Oktoberfest would not be complete without this addicting bar game. Get ready for some competition as players drive nails into a cross-section of wood faster than their opponent to become the 2011 champion! This game has become so popular that there is also Kids’ Hammerschlagen, located in a separate tent with kid-friendly equipment.
This year’s menu will leave no stomach wanting more, so get your taste buds ready for pretzels, schnitzel, strudel and other authentic German cuisine. The Festhalle Biergarten will pour you an ice-cold beverage to wash down your meal.
While noshing on the delectable “grub & grog,” you’ll be entertained by the various Oktoberfest performers. Check out the entertainment schedule to see what interests you.
Oktoberfest Northwest will be held Friday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday, Oct. 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oktoberfest admission information and ticket prices are available online. Celebrate the changing of seasons this weekend with good, old-fashioned German tradition.
