The Spot: The Brave Horse Tavern, named after the horse stables that once occupied South Lake Union in the Seattle of yesteryear, offers a welcome change to the typical bar scene. Hip foodies gather around large communal tables and pay homage to crafted brews and great food. Shuffleboards are also on hand if the mood strikes.

The Dish: One of the first things that may pop out at patrons is the wood-fired oven. What’s really noteworthy is the magic that they yield—golden, “malt boiled and hearth roasted” pretzels. If that’s not enough to make your mouth water, consider the paired spreads. A favorite is the sour cream and crispy onion, but you really can’t go wrong with any of them. Giddy up.
