Southern fare, craft cocktails, & warm hospitality.

In this edition of Food Porn, we feature brunch at Witness Bar, a lively bar in Capitol Hill offering Southern-influenced sustenance and libations. As the weather warms for spring and summer, the patio seating outside is a great option to enjoy the precious Seattle sunshine. Dinner and late-night favorites include their Chicken and Waffle and Dixie Poutine with bacon gravy and pimento cheese,

Biscuits and Gravy—there are typically two camps of biscuit eaters—light and flaky or more solid and dense. I can go either way as long as it tastes good! These housemade buttermilk biscuits were the latter, and stood up to the rich and thick gravy. Croque’d Toad is brioche toast sandwiches with bacon, melted cheddar cheese, and smothered in hollandaise.

Corned Lamb Hash with potatoes, sunnyside egg and toast. The lamb was a bit dry, but had good flavor and when mixed together, was balanced better. White Corn Grits and Egg with bacon gravy was surprisingly good. Not having grown up with grits, I’m not an expert, but I do know good food. And this was good. It’s creamy, seasoned well, and thick and hearty.
