From do-good Halloween happenings to fashion-inspired fetes.

As the month rolls along, here are some October events we thought you might want to keep on your radar.

SEASONAL SPLENDOR:

Ray’s Cafe in Ballard is hosting its third annual pumpkin carving party on Saturday, October 22! Pumpkin Carvers of all ages are invited to participate in the fall festivities on Ray’s cozy covered deck starting at 11:30 am, rain or shine. Heat lamps and fleece blankets will keep it nice and toasty if it’s a chilly day.

For $15 per person, carvers will receive:

• 1 pumpkin for carving
• Child-safe carving tools
• 1 LED candle
• Fresh, hot apple cider

Costumes welcome! There will also be a special seasonal menu including pumpkin beers and cocktails available for purchase.

Woodland Park Zoo gets in the spirit, too, with its October 29 and 30 Pumpkin Bash that welcomes little goblins and ghosts to an entire weekend of trick-or-treating, carved Funkin displays and other spook-tacular activities. Hippos, grizzlies, penguins and other animals “gobble, smash and play with pumpkins” while the zoo buzzes with activity.

The indoor nature play space gets transformed into a Halloween-themed zone, featuring not-so-scary storytelling, costumed puppet shows, games and more,” while Halloween-themed treats like cupcakes and cookies by Lancer Hospitality can be purchased at the Rain Forest Food Pavilion.

HALLOWEEN:

On October 29 (from 7 p.m. to midnight), join Shaker + Spear and Pennyroyal at Kimpton’s Palladian Hotel for their First Annual Halloween Bash benefiting Seattle Humane. The venue promises to “Channel Your Inner Animal” (think fuzzy ears, long whiskers and swishing tails) with carnival-style games plus prizes for best costume and sensational social media interaction.

Local rhythm and blues band ‘The Scotch Tops’ rocks on the dance floor, and Seattle’s ‘DJ Triple S’ spins vinyl hits during this 21-and-over fiesta.

Tickets ($99) include:

· Two modes of music and a dedicated dance floor to show off your moves
· Pay-to-play carnival games (all proceeds to support Seattle Humane)

FASHION-FUELED FUN:

At Seattle Art Museum, a lineup of events both educational and playful help celebrate the brand-new Yves Saint Laurent exhibition, on display at SAM through January 8. For example, at SAM CREATES: THE ART OF FASHION WITH MARK MITCHELL on Saturday October 29, participants “get into textiles and learn the basic stitching techniques used in the construction of hand-sewn haute couture garments from artist, educator and designer Mark Mitchell.”
