Creating a level playing field for all.

If ever we’re feeling down about the affairs of the world, it helps to look toward the do-gooders who carry an optimism that affects us, too. We can’t help it; it’s contagious. We recently caught up with one such local—Kirby Winfield, Auction Chair and Board Chair Elect for Special Olympics Washington.

Most men make the mistake of associating “custom menswear” with slick, three-piece suits that are only intended to be worn in the boardrooms of Manhattan’s most prestigious law firms or any other organization aspiring to be such. It might bring up images of top-dollar execs who drink expensive scotch in their offices who can afford to splurge on clothing made from scratch.

November is here and winter is coming. While a season of hibernation (and holiday overeating) is tempting, it’s also a great time to get started on those fitness and lifestyle goals we’ve been putting off since New Year’s. I’m a firm believer that it’s better late than never.

We had a chance to chat with Lane Hobbs, a registered dietician at Virginia Mason, following a study published in September that found people who use fitness trackers don’t necessarily lose more weight when compared to their counterparts. Lane talked with us about how to effectively utilize those fitness trackers as well as general nutrition, exercise, and de-stressing tips.

It’s clear that Russell Wilson is hurt. His rushing yards have dropped dramatically this year, and his fluttering scrambles out of the pocket that usually frustrate opponents have been virtually nonexistent.

Despite his extremely limited mobility, he has maintained a stellar pocket presence, possessing the wherewithal to either throw the ball away or take the hit while protecting the football.

It’s high time to book sun-kissed jaunts to Texas, Hawaii & Central America, too.

We’re entering that soggy season when the darkness descends, and we scramble to ration Vitamin D reserves intended to get us (happily) through hibernation-heavy months ahead. If we’re wise, this is when PNW residents remember the importance of plotting warm-weather travels. This is also when we here at Seattleite decide it’s time to help you plan—while simultaneously stoking our own wanderlust-fueled fires.

In 1996, El Gaucho opened with a vision of fine dining from a bygone era with old-school tableside service for people celebrating their lives. Twenty years later, the family-run company has grown to five restaurants throughout the Pacific Northwest and a boutique inn. To mark the occasion, a company-wide celebration with promotions and events will run through December 2016.
