Seattle Music
Filling February with a Chocofest, concerts, Can Can brunches, rugby matches & other enticing outings.
This Saturday we’ll cross our fingers for good news as the groundhog searches for his shadow. Regardless of which way the light falls, here are some things exciting us about the month ahead. Welcome, February!
With a couple more months of cold and grey to go, here are our picks for shows over the next two months. Dancing to great live music will help us get through the winter, right? It’s mostly pop, indie, alternative, and EDM. We love that Seattle has an abundance of small, quirky venues for a more intimate experience. All 15 shows are under $30 before fees (ugh, those pesky fees!). Enjoy!
Cautious Clay is playing a sold-out show on January 18th at The Crocodile. We had the chance to catch up with the man behind Cautious Clay, Joshua Karpeh, a flute-playing Brooklyn singer with a soulful voice and feel good beats.
Wonderful ways to ring in the first month of 2019
As we all ease our way back into routines and deadlines, we’re keeping our eyes on the bright spots of the season. We’ve gathered a few feel-good ways to invest your time and energy in the month ahead.
A balmy Sunday evening was perhaps the perfect time for the island-themed ‘Treehouse World Tour’ featuring Sofi Tukker, Kah-Lo, and LP Giobbi to The Showbox. By 7:30 pm on Sunday, May 20th, twenty-and-thirty-somethings were winding their way into the venue, with neon bands and cool kicks, ready to bring the house down.
Planning ahead for summer fun—locally + globally.
Our favorite PNW season is nearly upon us, so we’re doing all we can get to get properly prepared. This weekend we’re giving you three things to consider—some opportunities happen just on the other side of Lake Washington, others are popping up across a much larger pond.
Planning for a full season of music at the zoo and beyond.
Recently there have been plenty of roster unveilings for exciting events ranging from the Seattle International Film Festival (taking place May 18 to June 11, tickets on sale now) to Timber! Outdoor Music Festival (which returns July 12 through 14). Earlier this week, Bumbershoot also revealed its anticipated lineup; 3-day passes go on sale Friday, May 4, at noon.
Together, the La Isla Foundation and Opera on Tap Seattle will co-sponsor a concert, Canciones para Puerto Rico (“Songs for Puerto Rico” in Spanish), taking place this Saturday, April 28th at 7:30 p.m. to sponsor and provide supplies for two patient rooms in a free clinic in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico.
A sensational Swede returns this August—and other can’t-miss shows.
Daniel Norgren—an otherworldly “Swede with soul”—is returning to the U.S. this summer, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. This incredible talent will be back at Pickathon in early August (a dream come true), before heading up to Ballard’s Tractor for two shows (with Phil Cook) on August 7 and 8. Tickets for both performances go on sale today at 10 a.m.; they sold out last year, so we recommend jumping onboard ASAP!
