Chef Tommy McDonald, Seattle native and author of vegan cookbook Field Roast: 101 Artisan Vegan Meat Recipes to Cook, Share, and Savor shares 100 delicious, satisfying vegan recipes. McDonald is the head chef at Field Roast (founded in 1997 in Seattle), an artisan vegan grain meat and cheese company. We had the chance to chat with him last week for a Q+A about the cookbook, upcoming food trends in Seattle, and some of his favorite spots. 

A Q&A with Crooked Trails Co-Founder Chris Mackay

Since 1998, local nonprofit travel organization Crooked Trails has done its part to transform tourism into a positive force. The team designs custom, interactive adventures in addition to supporting community development projects in partnership with local communities, NGOs and operators. The World is Fun (TWIF) is a Seattle based nonprofit organization with a mission to get Seattleites involved in their community. Working in partnership with over 70 Seattle based nonprofit organizations, TWIF engages the community in volunteering and giving back in a fun and social way. This local social club is 100% volunteer-run and has given back $1 million in Volunteer Service Value to the Seattle area. We recently had the chance to interview the fabulous lady who started TWIF in 2009, Amy Faulkner.

Bell + Whete welcomes Jenny Izaguirre (ease-uh-ghee-ray) as their new Executive Chef.

Jenny is replacing Stew Navarre, who will be focusing on sister restaurant Local 360, with occasional collaborations at Bell + Whete. On top of being a talented chef, Jenny has a dynamic, warm personality and a fierce passion for food. She hails from Honduras and is a CIA graduate with nearly 10 years under her belt at various Four Seasons properties around the country. She speaks fluent Spanish, English and basic French and Turkish. We had the pleasure to hang out with Jenny and try some of her dishes last week.
