Since 1992, the Sheraton’s expert culinary team has partnered with top local architecture firms to design, build and wow the crowds with intricate, larger-than-life gingerbread creations. The unforgettable event keeps more than 150,000 visitors coming back year after year.

The last time we featured RAD AND HUNGRY (RAH), an online shop selling lo-fi office supplies locally sourced from around the world, was in its early days in 2011. Since then, this local company has expanded and flourished. Dedicated to connecting people and cultures though common office supplies and uncommon design, the RAH team travels the globe and hand-picks supplies that provide a first-hand glimpse into that country’s culture and design aesthetic. Whenever possible, RAH collaborates with local makers—craftsmen, screenprinters, designers and more—to create custom products.
It’s old news that traveling during the holidays can be a massive headache. It’s crowded, there are long lines at TSA, and you might be faced with annoying flight delays. Gina Moorhead a local and Minneapolis fashion designer and founder of House of Gina Marie® & GrasMark, and will be attending the 7th Annual Runway to Freedom Fashion Show and Auction for the second consecutive year. This year, Runway to Freedom Fashion Show and Auction will be held on Friday, November 4th at the Coterie Lounge in Seattle. The fashion show benefits Mary’s Place, a great nonprofit organization that works to empower women, children, and families to reclaim their lives.
Eco Fashion Week launches 11th edition of innovative sustainable fashion
The world’s first and largest sustainable fashion event is set to launch its 11th edition across international borders in Seattle, Washington this November 1-4. A growing not-for-profit organization, Eco Fashion Week (EFW), has presented 10 successful editions in Vancouver, Canada and is proud to launch its 11th edition, continuing its mission to raise global awareness for a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable fashion industry.
One of Seattle’s most iconic vegetarian restaurants, Cafe Flora, is turning 25 in October. Located in Madison Valley, Cafe Flora began as a pioneer in local farm-to-table vegetarian dining in 1991. They worked closely with small farms before it was common practice among restaurants. Since then they have been recognized nationally for their award-winning, creative vegetarian dishes in Bon Appetit, The Food Network, Vegetarian Times, Travel + Leisure and more.
Celebrating its 5th birthday last weekend, this year’s Feast Portland was the best one yet. Minus a little rain on Saturday, it was another successful food & wine festival. If you haven’t been, you should mark your calendar for next May when tickets go on sale—it’s not to be missed. A few of the Seattleite staff writers took a road trip down to Portland and enjoyed a weekend of glorious feasting. There’s some amazing talent in Portland and they are making innovative and delicious food.
