Seattle’s restaurant scene is at an all-time boom and there are seemingly new places opening every other week. The next time you want to go for a nice date night or try a different happy hour, here are the hottest new places to try…
Fueling the season with delicious, healthful food + drink.
During this September stretch when we’re gradually transitioning from beach picnics to indoor potlucks and movie marathons, we’re thrilled to find ways to spice up our culinary and beverage choices—with options that prove good for our bodies, too.
The Works Seattle teaches workshops on growing an edible garden, preserving food (pickling and jams), baking, and other crafty things. The fall line-up is live and it includes new cooking classes, the return of sourdough bread, plus herbal infusions, terrariums, and embroidery as embellishment and so much more.
BurnCycle gives Beyonce fans the ride of their lives.
Now here’s some happy news: To celebrate its five-year anniversary, BurnCycle—a rockin’ cycling studio with outposts in Ballard + Capitol Hill—is giving away two club-level seats to Jay-Z and Beyonce’s ON THE RUN II tour, which wraps here in Seattle on October 4.
Nordstrom recently welcomed Memphis Milano, an exhibition and pop-up shop featuring a specially curated collection, including original furniture and decor pieces from the likes of Memphis icons Ettore Sottsass and Michele De Lucchi, alongside a curated gift shop. The exhibit is the brainchild of Olivia Kim, Nordstrom Vice President of Creative Projects.
Finding ways to relax in the city and beyond.
After a long stretch of smoky skies and the feeling of fall lurking in the air, we’re sensing the need to head inside for peaceful pampering. Here are a few spas around the region ready to help you press “refresh.”
Living in the PNW sure has its charms, and access to lovely local wines and brews is one of them. With fall on the horizon, I find myself clinging on to the final weeks of summer with lots of outdoor excursions (with the zoo being a favorite!) and refreshing drinks. August is also Washington State wine month, so there are huge wine discounts and fun events that you can check out here.
Here are some of our recommendations for soaking up the rest of the summer.
Sawyer opened earlier this month in the old Kickin’ Boot location in Ballard serving casual, chic new American fare. Drawing inspiration from Chef Mitch Mayers’ fine dining background and childhood memories at the state fair, he has created a menu that features items including bone marrow matzo ball soup with a pho broth, oxtail nachos, and animal style burger.
Feast Portland, the premier food & drink festival in the PNW, is exactly three weeks away! While many of their events sold out immediately (back when tickets went on sale in June), surprisingly, there are a limited number of tickets remaining for some really fantastic events. See the full list below.
