West Seattle vendors bundle up to bring you fresh, local grub for the holiday table.

Winter is here and many of Seattle’s farmers markets have shut down for the season — most of them, anyway.  This week, the resilient vendors of the West Seattle Farmers Market will brave the cold to bring you fresh, flavorful fare one last time before the holidays get into full swing.

Cartoonist David Horsey and others will donate original work to this noble cause.

It is no question that Seattle has produced great talent over the years, and one of these notable figures includes two-time Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist and Seattle icon David Horsey. Horsey’s work will be showcased at a fundraising event this month intended to benefit the people of Haiti.

This greasy spoon transforms American favorites into vegan-friendly dishes.

Located in the northern part of the U. District, Wayward Vegan Cafe accepts people of all dietary backgrounds — and encourages them to sit next to each other when times get busy. Seriously, get cozy. This vegan greasy spoon is especially crowded on the weekends, when hungry visitors crave generous portions for breakfast and lunch.

This month, show Pioneer Square who’s the geekiest of them all.

Is your intelligence heightened after a good buzz? Do you have a keen (and rather embarrassing) knowledge of obscure information? Well, Geeks Who Drink (GWD) and Merchants Café and Saloon invite you to prove it at Pioneer Square’s Holiday Trivia Nights, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on both Thursday, Dec. 22, and Thursday, Dec. 29.

A Belltown cafe that brings regional products to Seattleite patrons.

Anchoring the middle stretch of 1st Avenue in Belltown, Local 360 is a central feature in the city’s movement towards locally-sourced cuisine. The number has meaning — the majority of products served at the eater come from within 400 miles of the city, booze included. All this makes for a tasty menu, and a downright steal when it comes to Happy Hour — though I’m sure the restaurant properly procures their goods.

Take to the local waters for a four-course meal in an intimate setting.

Maybe you haven’t made any plans for Christmas Eve yet, but know you don’t want to stay in that evening. Perhaps you’ve promised not to sit through yet another Christmas Eve dinner with Uncle Fred, who wears ugly sweaters and incessantly talks with his mouth full of turkey. Consider 2011 the year you treat yourself to a yacht dinner cruise.

The opportunity of a lifetime with the snapshot legend.

What: Seattle happily welcomes back critically-acclaimed photographer Annie Leibotvitz, who will read and sign her mesmerizing new book, “Pilgrimage.” She visited the city in recent years with her previous works, “A Photographer’s Life” and “Annie Leibovitz at Work.” Her newest compilation of photos is much different from the Leibovitz to which we are all accustomed.
