There’s been an ongoing theme at Seattleite with stories covering travel destinations and weekend getaways in an effort to escape the grey backdrop of Seattle during the winter months. Even though I’ve lived here my entire life, the dark, rainy months between late November and May can be hard to bear. Hawaii is one of my favorite vacations because you’re still in the United States, but it feels like a complete escape.
New to Victoria’s brew scene? West Coast Brewery Tours will happily haul you and your friends in their lively van to three different breweries in the area so you can merrily get sloshed! Near the beginning of the tour, you will learn bits and pieces of Victoria’s early beer scene history from when it started in the 19th century and a bit about the current climate of craft beer in British Columbia (BC). Seattle’s love for the kitty cafe concept shows no signs of slowing down with the announcement of a third cafe opening up this spring in Capitol Hill. Neko Cat Café’s founder and self-proclaimed head cat lady, Caitlin Unsell’s idea is to create “the kind of place where you bring your friends for happy hour and your niece on Saturday morning.”

Cupid’s Undie Run is a super fun, crazy 1-mile charity race where runners wear ONLY UNDERWEAR. Seattle’s edition takes place this Saturday at Westlake at noon! Cupid’s Undie Run focuses on the amazing mission to raise awareness for NF (Neurofibromatosis) and provide funds to The Children’s Tumor Foundation. The event is held in a total of 39 cities nationally and has currently raised over $2 million. Unlike other cities who hosted the run earlier this month with freezing temperatures like DC and Detroit, Saturday’s forecast calls for a party cloudy day and a high of 52 here in Seattle.

It’s the 20th anniversary of Capitol Hill Block Party (CHBP), which is scheduled for July 22-24 this summer. Today, the first wave of confirmed performers were announced, which include Scottish indie-pop band CHVRCHES, experimental electro-pop group Crystal Castles, and local electronic duo ODESZA. You know it’s summer when the streets in the heart of Capitol Hill are blocked off and flooded by Seattleites. Good vibes, good music, and good weather are what makes CHBP an event to catch every year.
