Something for everyone at the city’s biggest dog event.

The Seattle Kennel Club’s Dog Show is a don’t-miss event! This is going to be an action packed, two-day affair dedicated completely to dogs. There are around 1,800 dogs expected to be entered in the shows during the weekend. There are also going to be many attractions for the public such as demonstration events, educational booths, Meet the Breed introductions and agility/obedience competitions. Some of the featured demonstrations include Olympic Disc Dogs, Emerald City K-9 Freestyle Dancers, R2Agility, national celebrity pig Amy and much more!

Tea is quickly becoming a favorite beverage across America, with 158 million Americans are drinking tea daily. We are excited to announce a new Culture Dose column subset, “Local Heroes,” to showcase do-gooders in the Seattle area and their work within our community. Our first column features Nathan and Emma Welch, who founded Rites of Passage as a way to continue their shared commitment to community advocacy, giving back and local outreach. They’ve thoughtfully designed expedition-based wilderness therapy programs for adolescents ages 11-17 and adults ages 18-30+ who struggle with such emotional and behavioral concerns as ODD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, mood disorders and substance abuse. “A boot camp alternative,” they explain, “…our programs are therapeutic, not punitive.”

Super Six is inspired by its location in a former auto body shop on Hudson Street in Columbia City. It’s the sixth concept by the Marination team, which includes Marination’s food truck Big Blue, Marination Station, Marination ma kai (on Alki Beach—my favorite Marination concept), Marination catering, and their home base commissary. Along with a full cocktail bar and beer garden, the menu at Super Six focuses on Asian flavors complementing American comfort food and Pacific Northwest staples.
