Fall is coming, do you feel it? The kids are back to school, the leaves are starting to turn yellow, red, and orange, and pumpkin-mania has started. Thankfully, if the weather report is correct, we have at least another week of sunny 70s+ weather! Seattleite staff writers have attended all these events in past years and highly recommend them. Here’s a list of some fun things going on in Seattle this weekend.

Chef Sam Choy, the proclaimed God Father of Poke, has made his fame traveling the world educating people on this wonderful dish. Thanks to the influence of Chef Choy, there are many variations of this dish today. He has inspired many chefs to create their own take on this Hawaiian classic. Hosted by Chef Sam Choy and partner Max Heigh, The Seattle Poke Contest shines light on many of these great chefs in a fun competition.

San Francisco-based Lolli & Pops opens a new store in Bellevue.

Lolli & Pops showcases unique sweets from all over the world, including chocolate from Madagascar, sour belts from Spain, and sodas from Japan, sourced from famed producers and local artisans, changing daily with batch size and availability. The new store is now open and located on the first floor next to the Ben & Jerry’s and across from McDonalds.

We had the chance to chat with Leslie Ota, the founder of boutique sock company, Seattle-based Posie Turner. Leslie founded Posie Turner in the spring of 2015 with the motto, “modern socks with inspiring mantras.” Each pair of socks has a unique and vibrant design. Right now, they launch new styles in the spring and the fall. We want all of them. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but we love the “Be Twelve“, sporting blue and green Seattle Seahawks pride and “Expect Miracles“.

Quinn’s Pub has been the go-to place for classy comfort food before restaurants called themselves “gastropubs”. They’ve been consistently making really damn tasty food for years. On weekend nights, there are 20- and 30-somethings getting a bite before a show or hitting the bars as well as savoring a sit-down dinner. Located on the corner of the Pike and 10th, it’s a vibrant and bustling spot. It’s hip and casual. Weeknights and happy hour are more laid back if that’s more your scene.
