It’s 12 days until Valentine’s Day and if you’re on the hunt, there’s still time to find someone to spend it with. For Seattleites who have a busy schedule, recently moved to the city, or just don’t meet new people in their everyday lives, dating can be tricky. That’s where online dating comes in. Which app should you use? Which one is the best? The answer isn’t that straightforward: it depends on what you’re looking for.

Our neighboring state of Idaho is a little big state that feels like living on the frontier—and it’s an exciting time on the frontier. Downtown Boise is hosting their annual Treefort Music Festival where over 400 bands within Treasure Valley or as far as Western Europe, the Middle East, and Australia have come. Along with the festival, you can explore their collection of “fort” experiences ranging from comedy, films, performance art, tech, yoga, food+brews and more!

Bell + Whete Gastropub + Events is showcasing local chef talent via five upcoming chef pop up dinners, beginning tonight, in collaboration with Bell + Whete Executive Chef Jenny Izaguirre. Dinners will be held each Monday evening in February from 7:00-9:00 pm with the fifth and final dinner falling on leap year, Monday, February 29. Main & Vine, a new concept grocery store, will officially open its first-ever location on Wednesday, February 3rd in Gig Harbor (approximately 45 minutes south of Seattle). To celebrate the grand opening, Main & Vine will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday at 7:00 am. The first 250 guests will receive a commemorative Main & Vine reusable bag filled with a Simple Truth™ coupon book valued at $30, growler, cedar plank, cutting board, spatula, magnet and more.

From Executive Producers Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter, Vinyl is a new drama series set in 1970s New York will air its first episode Sunday, February 14th. A ride through the sex-and drug-addled music business at the dawn of punk, disco, and hip-hop, the show is seen through the eyes of a record label president, Richie Finestra, played by Bobby Cannavale, who is trying to save his company and his soul without destroying everyone in his path.

Located in the Four Seasons downtown with a view of the Seattle Great Wheel and Elliot Bay, Goldfinch Tavern has a prime location. The atmosphere is classy and ideal for date night or an intimate dinner with friends and family. In our experience, hotel restaurants can be hit or miss, but we came with slightly higher expectations since Goldfinch is a partnership with Ethan Stowell restaurants complimented by Four Seasons service.

The forecast is calling for rain—and possibly some snow showers—for the next 15 days. Whether you’re a native Seattleite or a transplant, you’ve probably learned that you need some serious inner happiness (and maybe the assistance of a happy light and vitamin D) to get through Seattle’s soggy winters. Another strategy is to plan warm-weather getaways while we less than patiently await Seattle’s gorgeous summers.

Q + A with a Riveting Musical Duo

In truth, March to May, a Seattle-based folk-pop pair, defies all genre descriptions. Singer-songwriters Darren Guyaz and Beth Wesche brilliantly overlay harp and guitar with rich vocal harmonies, haunting lyrics and riveting melodies. The result? A unique sound that has received flattering comparisons to the likes of Swell Season, Damien Rice and the Civil Wars.

Rum has earned a bad rap as the drink of pirates and the base of fruity cocktail drinks. While that is totally true, there is so much more to this versatile spirit than Mai Tais and Grog! The chicas y hombres at La Isla are more than happy to introduce you to some of the finest rums, rum cocktails, and food pairings. Each month, the staff excitedly dedicate a themed night to do just that, with small plates designed around rums and cocktails.
