Swank is Seattle Works’ annual gala & auction. This year’s event will be held at Fremont Studios on Saturday, October 8th. Seattle Works volunteers usually have their sleeves rolled up, working in the weeds. Chef Sam Choy, the proclaimed God Father of Poke, has made his fame traveling the world educating people on this wonderful dish. Thanks to the influence of Chef Choy, there are many variations of this dish today. He has inspired many chefs to create their own take on this Hawaiian classic. Hosted by Chef Sam Choy and partner Max Heigh, The Seattle Poke Contest shines light on many of these great chefs in a fun competition.
Lolli & Pops showcases unique sweets from all over the world, including chocolate from Madagascar, sour belts from Spain, and sodas from Japan, sourced from famed producers and local artisans, changing daily with batch size and availability. The new store is now open and located on the first floor next to the Ben & Jerry’s and across from McDonalds.
We had the chance to chat with Leslie Ota, the founder of boutique sock company, Seattle-based Posie Turner. Leslie founded Posie Turner in the spring of 2015 with the motto, “modern socks with inspiring mantras.” Each pair of socks has a unique and vibrant design. Right now, they launch new styles in the spring and the fall. We want all of them. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but we love the “Be Twelve“, sporting blue and green Seattle Seahawks pride and “Expect Miracles“.
